The Modern man The aim of my exhibit is to emphasize the solitude and loneliness of man in modern society. As electronic methods of communication multiply (the telephone, the internet, etc.), warm inter-personal and direct relations diminish. We have become more and more reliant upon these electronic mediums. I chose the telephone, which includes the cordless phone, since it has become an almost inseparable part of our souls and I would add of our bodies. The materials that I used have a message of their own: I combined stiff materials with flexible ones, (hard plastic with soft cloth), precious materials with basic ones, (silver and gold with earth), in order to emphasize opposites.
My exhibition contains a combination of several pieces of furniture. Each piece of furniture is a metaphor for Man.
It is a slice of life and
is made, used for storage, broken, falls out of favour and
is exposed to the ravages of time. It contains shelves,
compartments, drawers and doors It is something that can
be repaired.
In one piece of furniture there are secrets and openness
And I am there.
The spider is the main issue of my work.
The spiders gossamers define territory.
Someone approaching too close wil be caught between them.
Small insects will not succeed to escape and will find their death.
The spider spinners his "house" and wait.
Prey comes to him and can not escape.
Spider rules the areas of his territory and if anibody approachs he extends the gossamers and capture the victim.
The gossamers are thin , transparent , delicate , fluffy , made of beautiful embroidery but their power are fatal to whoever is caught.
Even creatures in great dimensions for example, a person
can be "captured" in spider's web.If you touch , it is dificult to get rid of it - it stucks , wrappes and dragges around you.
Metaphoricly spider's web, are sort of virtual trap .
It is an invisible trap almost no perceptible but felt.
Home is the focus of the universe
the carpet is its crown,
stepped on by everyone.
Traces of moments of truth
are absorbed by Warf and Threads
testifying existential threats:
connecting to beloved against self discovery,
the power to unite against the longing to split,
working toward harmonization against the cry of fragmentation,
connecting to constructive powers against deterioration,
between life and death
